Contentssends birthday wishes; hopes that Warburg will return soon, the latest reports were very encouraging; thanks him enthusiastically for a copy of Warburg's Luther book; wishes him many collaborators and successors on the vast new field of research; Saxl told him that the number of readers in the Library is growing; Hertz enjoyed reading that Luther and Melanchthon had different views when it came to astrology, one a realistic farmer's son, believing in god, the other an anxious superstitious pusillanimous scholar; he is dubious whether Melanchthon really helped the Protestant cause; his own family is well, his wife Hanna [Johanna Hertz] has dealt with the move to a new apartment very well, ably assisted by Mary Warburg; enjoys leaving the apartment in the evening to walk in the park; Mary Warburg has opened her garden for their little daughter; Hans is preparing for his Abitur [A-levels], Wilhelm Hertz insists that he has to read Law and German language at university; Archive Studies are too specialised; he saw Mary and Frede Warburg, one evening when he was rowing; both are well
