| Contents | on the 'Theaterwissenschaftliche Woche', he is not impressed; [Julius] Petersen spoke on his Faust research; rails against the lecture, Petersen's bad examples, Goethe having used Rembrandt's 'Faust' as a title engraving, copied by Lipp; Saxl praises Lipp's interpretation of Rembrandt's Faust; [Karl] Holl and [Karl Hubert] Niessen gave a conducted tour through the historical exhibition of stage settings; Holl is better than Niessen, Niessen is sentimental, Saxl quotes exasperatedly Niessen's 'we are Baroque beings'; Saxl asked him about scenes of swearing an oath, but Niessen knew of none; Niessen thinks that art historians are stupid, in his view façades of palaces are nothing but backdrops for theatrical performances; despite these two guides, Saxl found the exhibition very good, has sent a catalogue to Warburg, has found Medea engravings; [Max] Förster will speak on 09/06/1927 |
