| Contents | Wilhelm Dibelius in Berlin encouraged him to apply for a post as exchange teacher at the Teachers' College of Columbia University, New York; Gilbert is very keen and has sent in his application; he needs two referees and has asked Dibelius; would Warburg be his second referee?; if so, could he write a reference to Akademischer Austauschdienst, Berlin C2, Schloß, Portal III?; in order to inform Warburg of his achievements, he forwards the text of his address on the occasion of the arrival of the 'Schwimmende Universität' in Hamburg in 1927; the Dean, Mr. Lough, liked it so much that he wrote on a dedication copy to Gilbert 'In appreciation of a splendid speech, well delivered, and of greatest interest to students of the world cruise' |
