Contents | thanks him for a copy of his letter to Warburg via Clara Hertz; Saxl is very sorry, since [Wilhelm] Printz has discovered the Arabic text and has established that 'Picatrix' derived from 'Hippocrates'; Saxl is convinced that nobody can prepare an edition considering the state of the material at the moment; what they have are only late manuscripts, translations which are partly incomprehensible because the translators must have worked from corrupted texts; quotes the K. Dyroff translation of Albumazar ['Abu Ma'shar'] as proof for the nonsensical translations into Latin in the Middle Ages; Saxl therefore hopes that the text will be published without a Latin text; sends greetings to Printz and his wife |
