ContentsMarietta dictates: she has found chocolate in her slippers, a present from Santa Claus; Marietta's grandmother Hertz will lunch with them; [Warburg] 'aunt' [Wilhelmine] Niels visited and wants to take Marietta to the 'Halobische Garten' and to another garden where lions and tiger roam freely; Mary continues: hopes that he has received [Heinrich] Embden's letter; Embden had the flu, but Mary met him in her brother Wilhelm's house; Embden does not mention Miss K., she has left Kluhsmanns and has gone to Kiel; she has not forgotten her erstwhile love, but he is not going to marry her because of an inheritance clause; Embden does not have much hope, but Hanna [Johanna Hertz] and Mary are quite hopeful; Mary talked to Embden about Marietta's imagination, phantasy and about washing with cold water etc; Carl Mönckeberg and his bride also attended the meal the previous evening at Wilhelm's; aunt Emma [Bartels] visited Mary and found Max Adolph adorable; what are Warburg's views about the Freiburg plan [a visit to André and Mathilde Jolles]?
