Contents | thanks her for letter; is very happy as he has received a letter from Wilhelm [Hertz]; refers to the requirement that Wilhelm works for a whole year in the land registry; Wilhelm should not be too annoyed about it, he will gain time for his work in the 'Volksheim'; is pleased for Mary that the evening with Pastor Schulz [Clemens Schultz] was a success; he had only one letter from Tilli [Mathilde Jolles] and she sounded really depressed; Käthe [Embden] ought to travel to Tilli [Jolles]; it is very cold in the archive; [Alessandro] Gherardi is in charge of the archive; the previous evening Warburg visited Mrs. Hall, an American teacher, recommended by Professor Sachs; Warburg found her boring and the group of women he met in her house even more so; describes them as women with 'infernal faces', 'pumpkins with hair', with broad hips like market women, jewellery 'on their paws', it was like a caricature by [William] Hogarth; he will go for a walk to get warm; he will send a trunk and asks Mary what she needs in Hamburg: children's clothes, silver tableware?; would she go with him to Florence in February 1903? |
