Contentsthanks her for a letter, which reached him on Sunday, like a Sunday afternoon visitor; explains his life and lifestyle in Florence; finds it tough, not so much because everything has to be done fast, but because he has to work on his own; while this means he has time to develop ideas etc., it also means that he wants to be idle; he is frequently in touch with his friends, with A. Schmarsow, [Adolph] Bayersdorfer, the curator of the Bavarian galleries; Warburg gave two papers which were well received; complains about Max J. Friedländer who has become very unpopular; Friedländer is showing off with other people's wisdom; Friedländer needs to be severely criticized because he has talent; it cannot be denied that he is Leopold [Friedländer]'s son; does not want to waste more ink on 'this Berliner'; Ernst Burmeister has lost a lot of weight, but has started to go to lectures again
