Contentshe has heard the rumour of the sinking of 'Augusta Victoria' from Mrs. Meyer from Berlin, resident in his hotel; he found out that it was not true; the storms in the North must have been very bad, mentions a damaged roof in Altona; the weather in Florence was not good in the last few days, rooms are not heated so that he was very cold when working in the manuscript department; he has so much work to do in various libraries that he does not know whether he will have time to go to Rome; he is still not receptive to works of art, his eyes are quite weak; the wife of Adolf Hildebrand [Irene Hildebrand] is a lovely old lady; Alfred Doren also had a letter of recommendation for her; she recommended them to the Krahnstöver family, from Mecklenburg; they visited, there was music, three daughters etc.; he is very hungry at lunch time, enjoys Italian food; his knowledge of Italian language is passable; Baronin Senfft with two ugly daughters, a good-looking Countess Schweinitz and three Americans arrived; he met a Mr. Goldschmidt, from London, at Horace von Landau's, who is married to a woman from Austria, related to Königswarter; thanks Olga Warburg for a letter; would Moritz Warburg want to contribute financially to the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz?
