Contentsthanks for arranging credit facilities; Horace von Landau was astonished that Warburg's father arranged only for a small credit; Landau's niece Finali and her daughter are also in Florence; he was invited to dinner at Mrs. [Jessie] Hillebrand's together with the German consul, Professor [Max Georg] Zimmermann, Elisa Bulle-Rigutini; the occasion was 'a sort of celebration' of the future Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz; Zimmermann has a difficult task ahead; on fundraising for the Institute; Warburg, as art historian, has pledged Mark 10; Dr. [F.] Sarre has given Mark 1000; invites his father to give Mark 300 to 500; Mendelssohns have given Mark 600, [Karl] Count Lanckoronski Mark 5000 in the first instance; asks his parents to advertise the Institut among their friends; he plans to go to Rome for three weeks; approves of the plan to rent a house on the river Elbe, as he does not like Friedrichroda as a holiday venue
