Contentsreports on the 'most harmonious wedding' he has ever attended: the lovely landscape, the wonderful house, a sunny autumn day, the Loeb family; everybody missed Paul Warburg's parents because everybody felt that they would have fitted in so well; the evening before the wedding, James Loeb and Warburg improvised an eve of the wedding evening at Schiffs; there were speeches and Warburg made a speech and proposed a toast to Mr. [Solomon] and Mrs. [Betty] Loeb; the wedding guests arrived by special railway train, orderd for the day, punctually at 12 noon on 01/10/1895; they were met at the station with coaches and horses; the wedding itself was very dignified, followed by lunch; encloses menu [not extant]; the food was lovely, the wines less so; the Americans drink a lot of water; everything was very well arranged by James [Loeb]; Warburg has grown very fond of him; Warburg likes all the other Loebs, Guta [Loeb, oo Seligman], Eda and Morris [Loeb], the parents Jacob and Therese [Loeb], the grandparents; Warburg was seated next to Mrs. Wetzlar and they spoke Italian; after the meal Warburg had a lively conversation with Carl Schurz on [American] Indian stories; there was dancing and people threw rice on the young couple; James and Warburg travelled to the office of the justice of peace to get the marriage certificates signed; c. 70 cables arrived from Hamburg alone, but also from grandmother and uncle Moritz [Oppenheim] etc., in total 200 cables; there were notices in the 'New York Tribune' and 'Herald'
