Contents | she wanted to write on 24/01, but had not time to write the letter; continues on 05/02/1896, after having unpacked Warburg's collection of [American] Indian objects; she likes the headdress; the Warburg family hope to receive a cable from Max Warburg in Cape Town soon; they lead a quiet life, go to concerts and theatres; performances are poor as Pollini is ill; she enjoys a good Menzel exhibition in Kunsthalle, with exhibits from galleries in Hamburg, Berlin and Menzel's private collection; Dr. [Ludwig?] Edinger was appointed professor, Professor [Otto] Lenel was appointed Rektor of Strasbourg university; on 30/01/1896 she attended a ball in the Melchior house, the first time that she went without her brothers; two comedies were performed, stiff Carl Melchior acted in one comedy; everybody asked after Warburg; when will he return?; could he return with Loebs?; Charlotte sends greetings and adds that all family members in Frankfurt, Vienna, Prague and Berlin, where aunt Mali [Amalie Goldschmidt] is staying, are fine; James Loeb will arrive in Hamburg in three weeks, Nina is very happy |
