Contentsforwards requested information; congratulates Max on being appointed 'Handelsrichter' [Justice at a Commerical Court]; Warburg and Mary are busily furnishing their home; the weather is still very good; they have not started visiting people; they live quite separate from the other guests [in the Pensione], it is likely that they will rent an additional fourth room, but they will not exceed their daily budget of Mark 21; due to Consul Pinto's bad advice Warburg had to pay Lire 160 import duty; the law which permits free import of dowry has been discontinued years ago; only used goods are free of import duty; wants to know when 'the American thing' [does he refer to 'Pan Übergabe an Böcklin', as mentioned in Diary on 04/08/1897 to happen on 16/10/1897?] will be published; Mary sends greetings, it is four weeks since the 'golden day' in Wiesbaden [when they met the parents]
