Contents | apologizes for delay in writing; is pleased that her watercolour arrived well; her brother Wilhelm [Hertz] wrote that the accompanying verses were very well received; her mother is well again and was grateful for the visit of Charlotte and Moritz Warburg; Mary received letters from Nina [Warburg] who has recovered from her influenza; Mary and Warburg forwarded Charlotte [Warburg]'s report of the festivities in Wiesbaden and the text of the performance to Felix Warburg in New York; Warburg is working hard and she is happy that he can work so well; thanks her for buying a present for Franziska; Mary and Warburg bought a little Christmas tree, Warburg presented her with a foot muff made of fur; the weather is sunny, but cold; [Alfred and Anna] Doren visited them on Christmas Day in the evening, they played the piano which they rented recently; the previous day they visited Heinrich Brockhaus and his wife Else; Alice [Hallgarten] spoilt them at Christmas with presents, mostly food; Miss [Pensione] Albini's health is improving; the Wissotsky family is trying to help the Warburgs make a home, the Warburgs do not notice that they live in a Pensione; Warburg met accidentally Professor Warburg [Otto Warburg?] and his wife, from Gothenburg, Sweden, in town; their little daughter had died some months ago; the Warburgs will meet the couple the same day to visit St. Maria Nuova and see the Van der Goes painting; [Gustaf F.] Steffen, his wife [Oscara Steffen] and child [Mona-Lisa Steffen?], also from Sweden, will also join them; a sculptor, [Georg] Roemer, will visit the Warburgs in the next few days; Warburg is working on proportions, so that Mary has bought him a very sophisticated pair of compasses as present |
