Contentshe has just returned from his lunch with uncle Wilhelm [Wilhelm Ludwig Hertz] and aunt Fanny [Hertz]; he also met little uncle Otto; he likes aunt Fanny and is impressed by uncle Otto's knowledge and literary taste; mentions the 'elephant plaquette' which Mary is working on; the caption 'Büsum' and the date of '2 Juli' [date of engagement] will be enough; is happy that the funeral did not depress her; they have to think of their own life; asks her to write in the evenings so that he has her mail on the next morning; asks her not to forget to make a selection of her sculptures to take to Florence; he has written to Mrs. [Pensione] Albini in Italian; the Italian teacher, Dr. Vitali, is a nice man; one week ago he was with Mary in the Hertz house, which was much nicer than in a Pils beer pub in Berlin on his own; is very pleased that his life as bachelor will come to an end; his Botticelli work is going well; sends greetings to his mother-in-law, father-in-law, the 'fat' and the lean brother-in-law [Adolph Jacob and Wilhelm Hertz], Nurse [Helene Peters] and Miss [Bertha] de Voss
