Contentsshe has to write a second letter of the day; wonders whether they will be able to send daily letters throughout the whole time of their engagement; is astonished that Warburg started having Italian classes; Mary will practice Italian with Ada [Booth?]; she does not want to have private lessons with a teacher, it is too boring for the teacher and Mr. Farulli does not seem to be in Hamburg; she has a letter from Paul [Warburg], Nina, from Olli [Olga Warburg] in Heidelberg; she has planned a meeting with Warburg's mother in Fontenay in the next few days; Mary has made a draft for the plaquette; should she send it to him or carry on working on it?; it will be a half-length portrait showing a very cheerful and satisfied elephant, with two little cupids holding a large laurel wreath above its head; the elephant holds in its trunk two hearts, tied together, labelled 'A' and 'M'; an inscription can be added at the bottom, in the top corner she could add ornaments, little crabs; the inscription could read: 'By two grateful people, July 1897'; the funeral went well, the cemetery is a very beautiful place and the Hertz family grave is in a lovely spot, tucked away behind fir trees; Mary will not travel to Campe on 01/08/1897, as the widow, aunt Marie [Maria Elisabeth Hertz], will stay in Hamburg for a few days
