| Contents | informs him that he passed his oral exams; he is now one of the new crop of 'muli'; Professor [Richard] Hoche was very gentle with his questions, the teachers were all very decent; thanks everybody who took such an interest in his school career; he improved his French, enjoyed the lessons with Jacoby and Bottiger; does not know which way to turn to train for a profession; he is quite interested in becoming a merchant, a businessman, is impressed by the family firm and values the 'honourable' way in which it makes money; he is quite interested in reading law but can anybody take part in the scientific progress of humankind without a science degree?; he is not very enthusiastic about the idea of starting a university course as he fears  antisemitism and with it isolation |
