Contentsshe enjoys sitting on the verandah; everything is green around her, it is a wonderful spring day; people play tennis; a week ago builders started to plough up a meadow opposite her house to construct another tennis court; she was angry at first, but finds it a good development in view of Warburg's hayfever; informs him that Carl Amsinck got engaged to 'Trudel-Pudel' [ Gertrud Carr]; [Adolf?] Mietsch played a great part as negotiator; Mr. Bets [should this be Beets?] will have lunch with Mary the next day, Emmy Jauch [Emily Jacuch] and Werner will visit her on 22/04/1902; she visited Hanna [Johanna Hertz, née Benemann], she has not heard anything from her brother John in Helmstedt; Mary's mother told Mary that John's [Johann Nicolaus Hertz] wife Lene [Magdalene Hertz] is expecting a child in November; the previous day she had dinner in Mittelweg, with Warburg's parents, but aunt Malchen [Amalie Goldschmidt] sent apologies; it is not quite clear whether she was not well or whether she did not like that Mary has brought a Christian cook to cook the meal
