| Contents | cannot picture Warburg running the household in Florence; but it is good exercise for him; she is not astonished that the old photographs of Detta [Marietta Warburg] as baby collect dust; is pleased that Pietro Rossi seems to be an able man-servant, does Warburg still employ Adelia?; is happy that he can work well, living on his own will mean that he will get through his work much quicker; thanks him for cable; Mary visited [Wilhelmine] Niels who is very busy with commissions; she is painting 'Mädchen von Sylt'; Mary also visited Kunstverein, to have a look again at the paintings by Esther Booth and her group; the paintings by [Olga von] Boznanska are very good, but Mary finds that the painters do not strive enough for simplicity, 'they want so much'; the Liljefors paintings are great; Mary took Max Adolph to Warburg's parents, Franziska [Jahns] admired him greatly; Mary is sorry that Warburg cannot see the development of his children with his own eyes; Alice [Warburg] is getting better, Liese [Louise Derenberg] took her for a drive the previous day; the previous day Mary visited Anna Blumenfeld and met Dr. [Ludwig] Klages, who is a friend of [Friedrich] Huch, the architect Alfred Löwengard, [Felix Cohn or Carl Cohn] (the brother of Emil Cohn from Strasbourg) and his wife [Marie Rosette, née Löwengard, wife of Felix Cohn?], Elsa [...], Dr. Julius Cohn; it was a lovely evening; President [Siegmund] Hinrichsen died of a heart attack during a conference |
