Contentscovering letter for a copy of Panconcelli-Calzia's official report to the Rektor of the university on his last trip to Italy;report on Panconcelli-Calzia's stay in Rome from 24/03/1915 to 19/04/1915:he was busy with distributing 'Rivista Illustrata'; on his conversations with [Paul Gustav] Hübner and Professor [Pietro Silvio] Rivetta; 'Rivista' should be on sale in every city in Italy; they also sent copies of both issues to priests and teachers in 5000 smaller communities; they sent copies to the German consulates, embassies, to important Italian civil servants, officers etc; people liked the two issues, admired the quality of the reproductions; Fürst von Bülow liked 'Rivista Illustrata' very much and ordered additional copies; Calzia was also involved in producing other periodicals; 'Italia Nostra', published by university teachers, is in financial difficulties; Calzia would have liked to give money to Professor [Cesare] De Lollis, the director of the paper, but he refused to accept any; Calzia then made a donation of Lire 200, using money which Warburg has put at his disposal; the journal 'La guerra e l'Italia', started by Warburg and Calzia, edited by [Domenico] Gnoli, [Pietro Silvio] Rivetta and [Adriano] Tilgher, was very successful; an article by Benedetto Croce was published in its first issue; 'Tribuna' started to print articles by Rivetta; Calzia had spoken to a friend of his, a cartoonist working on the journal 'Travaso', who agreed to work for Calzia before the political situation had changed; pictures, distributed by Berlin, could even by published in papers which are normally anti-German, 'Corriere della Sera', 'L'Illustrazione' and 'La Stampa'; he found that the majority of Italians were against war, but anti-German demonstrations were orchestrated by the government; Calzia also tried to find a publisher for the [Otto Bodenstein] book on the true reasons for the war; the publisher Laterza declined outright; Rivetta then agreed to have it published under his name; Rivetta would have been editor and translator of the book and would have negotiated with an Italian publisher like Bocca Brothers in Turin; the project had to be aborted once war was declared
