Contentsit is Whitsun, Sunday, the children are out walking, the house is quiet, he has time to write; since his previous letter many terrible things have happened; mentions Mary Warburg's brother-in-law [Max Warburg], who is a member of the peace delegation in Versailles; finds it very good that Warburg does not have to witness the daily events; he would suffer greatly; Saxl and his wife often think and speak about Hamburg, telling other people about Warburg and how Warburg educated Saxl; on his work in Vienna, working for the military authorities in adult education; he has been asked to work in art education and has hopes to be transferred to the ministry of education; his sphere of influence would therefore expand; remembers the word 'sphere' from his time and research in Hamburg; he has no time for research; he would like to leave Vienna, he would like to go to Australia and become a farmer, but it is impossible; his wife [Elise Saxl] and children are fine, Hedwig [Saxl] will start school in the next year; remembers when she was born in Hamburg, Hagedornstrasse, their flat in Grasweg; Saxl himself is nervous, overworked, cannot give much time to his children; wants Mary to write to him, sends greetings, hopes for better days for all of them; could Miss Hintze send him some of his cigars which are still in Hamburg?
