| Contents | he heard an excellent lecture by [Gustav] Pauli on 'Dürer und die Antike' in KBW; enjoyed the lecture, the feeling of intellectual community; compared it to a lecture by [Pastor L.] Heitmann in the Protestantenverein which left the audience cold; remembers fondly his visit in Kreuzlingen on 01/08/1922; has plans to visit Warburg again; on his son [Hans?] in Munich; Hertz has to insist that he finishes his law degree soon; Warburg's and his own families are fine; Uschi [Ursula Benemann] is staying with Hertz, she had the flu; Wilhelm's daughter Eva had a cold, but is otherwise a delightful little girl, eager to attend the Heitmann confirmation classes; his wife Hanna [Johanna Hertz] is a housewife, working very hard, has no time for her music any more; but she continues with cutting silhouettes, recently she made one of Eva [Hertz]'s violin teachers, Schmidt-Schroeter; Hertz will have to go to Berlin to run a conference drafting legislation for young people; on the political situation, is disappointed with the Social Democrats; the 'socialism of conviction' resides somewhere else, not in the party; on his experiences in Dreißigacker, young socialists were not interested in old socialist ideals; the Volksheim ideas are very necessary; Eppendorf has become a new district in the Lutheran church, no longer joined to Winterhude and Fuhlsbüttel; it is necessary to foster the new district so that it can grow into a new community; on his profession, he is not totally convinced that his new work is really fulfilling; sends greetings from Usch [Benemann, sister-in-law], Dörten [his daughter Maria Dorothea]; his wife Hanna [Johanna Hertz] sends greetings |
