| Contents | thanks him for a Christmas present; sends him New Year wishes; peace has not been seen since 1914, the times are bad and uncertain; hopes that the good will of the Germans will disarm the fanatical enemies; complains about the political situation; the Hertz family had a good Christmas, everybody was well; they visited Mary Warburg and he enjoyed the three children very much; Detta [Marietta Warburg] looks well, Max Adolph is very mature, Frede very cheerful; he attended a number of Laban Dance evenings and enjoyed them very much; the art form will find its link to mystery plays; Bertha Hartwig visited them, she cannot attend the Laban classes as they are exorbitantly expensive; Carl Stromberger has passed his finals and has nearly finished with his practical work in the hospital; the three siblings Stromberger are with Carl, their mother is in Rasemühle near Göttingen; his son Hans is in Worms with his grandfather; Hertz will study 'Bürgerliche Gesetzbuch' with Hans and Walther Hertz, his nephew, in the summer semester; Hanna [Johanna] Hertz presented him with a beautiful silhouette of Dürten [Maria Dorothea Hertz, her daughter]; to have the silhouettes photographed has unfortunately become so expensive, that he cannot do it; Hanna Hertz also gave him the second volume by Spengler, who might not be always right, but stimulates one's thoughts |
