Contentsthe trip from Hamburg went well, in the car from the station to the hotel they had a puncture; on their train journey they stopped in Freiburg, visited the Minster; she showed the children the wonderful Hans Baldung altar and Holbein paintings; the place in front of the Minster was full of flags in honour of the birthday of the Großherzog; they also visited the Franziskanerplatz with the townhall and had lunch in Victoria Hotel; they took a train again, [Helene] the wife of Professor [Richard] Thoma was in her compartment, sends greetings; she lives in Saig with her son, near Titisee; the car, ordered by them, had left Titisee when they arrived, Warburg's cable must have come too late; but they could get another car; the air is very good, the apartment is charming; there is a little brook near the house, cows are grazing, everybody is very happy; he does not have to worry about them; she will write to him from next day onwards to Heligoland; tells him to request the keys for wine cellar and various trunks from Elsa [maid]
