| Contents | she has talked with Hanna [Johanna Hertz] about the holiday money for Miss de Voss before her departure; Miss de Voss has sent her a warm letter of thanks already; Mary sent her Mark 100, what will de Voss think if she gets another Mark 200?; the previous day Emmy O'Swald and Martha Schramm visited them; they told Mary about a discovery to produce sulphur from gypsum; either this day or the next Maggie and Albrecht and children Margarethe and Wilhelm [O'Swald] will also arrive in Müritz; Wilhelm O'Swald is on leave from Verdun, he has been promoted to officer; is very happy that nephew Wilhelm [Wilhelm Adolph Hertz] will be allowed to join them in Müritz; Lene [Magdalene Hertz, Wilhelm Adolph's mother] wrote that Wilhelm Adolph will go by steamer to Scharbeutz, if the service still exists; Mrs. Franke wrote to Mary suggesting that the young people should interrupt their tour when Marietta will get her period and stay for a few days in one place; does not think that Warburg might agree to such a plan; Mary suggests that the others should continue with their walking tour and, if necessary, end up in Müritz and stay for a while with them; Mary will write to Mrs. Franke in the evening; should Warburg agree to Mrs Franke's plan, he should send her a cable; Mary is reading Neumann's book on Central Europe and likes it very much; wants to know what he has discussed with Neumann in Berlin; Mary has written to Wilhelm [Hertz] |
