Contents | thanks for letter and key for his trunk; a circus has come to Holzminden, Lehmann took them all to a performance; swears never ever to go to a circus performance again, it was truly dreadful; is sorry to hear of the death of [Friedrich] Schultess (26/04/1919), but it is better for Schultess, as he would not find his bearings in the present time; a younger teacher would be better, [Peter] Petersen; continues on16/05/1919: acknowledges receipt of his trunk; thanks for food parcel; will send his laundry shortly; is pleased to hear that Warburg is feeling better; Findüin [Miss A. Dühren] sent him a card from her holiday; they spend a lot of time out of doors, they have classesout-of-doors, in the heath, meadows etc; he enjoys to roam on his own, the beech forests are wonderful; Schultze-Naumburg, styled 'Günsel', and Max Adolph went for a walk on Sunday to the other side of the river Weser, it was a wonderful hike; Günsel is a keen photographer like many of his friends; Max Adolph shares a room with Horst Falk, a nice boy; the brothers Marten are decent boys, they came to Holzminden from Wickersdorf, like Dr. Hell and Günsel; Neckelmann, styled 'Nexe Nexe', is extremely well read, with a sense of humour; the previous day they had a study day, introduced by the teacher-student committee; they are supposed to study only one subject, which interests them most |
