ContentsSaxl is with him, Warburg is very happy; Saxl will be travelling [in Italy] until 14/11/1923; does not know yet where he will meet Max Adolph, possibly in Arezzo; Kurt Binswanger does not allow Warburg to accompany Saxl to the train station by car, it is too expensive; which is strange, after having permitted Warburg to accompany Max Adolph to Zurich; six months ago Warburg had his Indian lecture, but it did not help him gain his freedom; is happy that the family enjoys [his parcels of] Swiss chocolates; does not want to see the hideous face of Nurse Lydia in his last hour; she is ever more unacceptable to him the more he has to view her as his substitute family; has walked Saxl to the train station, has pains in the heart; continues on 21/10/1923: a sad Sunday; he has tried a new soap, Eau de Cologne 4711, but it gives him headaches; Warburg had words with the Nurse [Lydia] because she is deceitful and without respect, but Kurt Binswanger in turn complained to Warburg; Lydia used his Gillette blade, which should have been thrown away, as a knife for corns; on his way back, he had to take nitroglycerin and then went into a pub where he met two of Binswanger's patients; Warburg had pains in the heart which Kurt Binswanger did not believe, told Warburg that they were histrionics; Warburg is being tortured, wants to leave it all behind, wants to talk to [Heinrich] Embden; thanks for maple leaf, but it does not shine any more; he has kept a few leaves, which the wind blew on his windowsill; two weeks ago Max Adolph was with Warburg; on the political situation in Germany, Saxony and Bavaria against the country ['Reich'] and Poincaré with Masaryk against everybody; Kurt Binswanger, the 'canaille', informed him of the death of Georges [Georges Siegmund Warburg] two days ago; apparently, Kurt did not want to disturb Saxl's visit; Warburg is angry; when Warburg complained about it he was threatened with Veronal; Kurt Binswanger does not even allow Warburg to ring the family to find out where Georges [Georges Siegmund Warburg] will be buried; wanted to visit [Georges Siegmund Warburg's widow] Lucie Warburg, but was not allowed to; is very agitated, is longing to be with his family, Mary; is angry about the trusses; greetings to Datzen [Marietta Warburg], Frede, [Gertrud] Bing, Clara [Hertz]
