| Contents | thanks for two letters, one from Nurse Lydia; Emilie Giorgetti has also written, a lovely letter about Max Adolph; all their friends were very pleased to meet Max Adolph and have spoilt him; he is sometimes awkward, should have kept to his promise of sending a postcard every three days; Warburg might get a long letter from Frankfurt; does not know whether [Heinrich] Embden will travel via Frankfurt, she will ask him about Erythrol; does not know whether the Weiss family [in Frankfurt] have a telephone; the railways work well, no problem with Barmbek; on the insane price increases, bread costs 34 billion Mark; how can pensioners etc. pay such amounts?; Hoover's name is mentioned as a member of the commission of experts; Frieda and Nina [Warburg] have sent her dollar cheques; Mary pays for Wilhelm's [Wilhelm Adolph Hertz] degree course and Lene's [Magdalene Hertz] expenses and Mary also helps other people; Wilhelm [Wilhelm Adolph Hertz] is in Hamburg, he is being treated by Dr. Aly for a boil on his arm; Mary will attend the Friday evening dinner at [Julius and Louise] Derenberg's, will meet Max Warburg there; Petris sent a card, they will miss charming Max Adolph; is certain that Warburg will feel that he is getting better and that only the political situation in Germany postpones his return; Mary will send lecture programmes, white envelopes, has ordered the book by Goetze |
