Contentshe normally receives her letters every Monday, but this time the letter arrived two days late; the weather in Florence is very fine, sunny, blue sky; he enjoys life in Florence; he can learn from the best masters the best works of art; the group of teachers and students, archaeologists, classical scholars, art historians, gets on well; the previous evening even August Schmarsow joined them; afterwards, Hans Seger wanted to serenade a woman, who was, according to Seger, trapped in an unhappy marriage; however, Warburg and Ernst Burmeister did not want to join him, Max J. Friedländer wanted to go home; [Ernst] Zimmermann and H. Ulmann wanted to take part, but both were too drunk and Seger had no guitar so that nothing came of it; Zimmermann is quite immature, but full of himself, but Warburg and Max Semrau have fun with him, explaining things wrongly etc.; e.g. Warburg explained that beer was transported from Austria to Italy packed flat like a board, that was the reason why it was called 'Tafelbier'; Zimmermann fell for it; Warburg can hear Bersaglieri music from the bank of the Arno
